Introduction & Purpose
ITA members uphold the highest ethical standards to protect the profession’s quality, public trust, and client welfare. This Code outlines expected behaviors, supports a safe peer community, and ensures clarity on enforcement and confidentiality.
Scope & Acknowledgement
- Applies to all members, event attendees, committee participants, and ITA Online community members.
- Applies at all ITA‑branded events and communications, both online and offline.
- Members must acknowledge this Code upon joining and review it annually.
Core Principles
Integrity
- Act honestly, fairly, and transparently.
- Do not exploit others’ lack of knowledge or experience.
- Treat everyone respectfully and without bias—including on race, gender, orientation, ability, age, or religion.
Objectivity
- Make judgments without improper influence or bias.
- Disclose any conflicts—financial or otherwise—and recuse yourself when necessary.
Competency
- Maintain necessary professional knowledge and skills.
- Commit to ongoing education and peer learning.
Due Professional Care
- Plan, supervise, and execute responsibilities diligently.
- Follow applicable technical and professional standards.
Confidentiality
- Respect all sensitive information obtained through ITA venues.
- Disclose only when required by law or with written consent from the original presenter.
Participation
- Members actively contribute their insights and expertise, engaging in a balanced exchange that values both sharing and learning from others.
Member-to-Member Confidentiality
- Any insights shared in ITA meetings, forums, or internal communications are confidential unless the speaker provides explicit written permission or it is anonymized.
- Unauthorized sharing (including identifying details) is prohibited.
- Breaches may result in actions up to membership termination.
Conflicts of Interest & Antitrust Compliance
- Disclose any personal, financial, or firm-related interest that might influence your objectivity.
- Participation in discussions or media involving sensitive business topics—like pricing, markets, or customer allocation—is prohibited. These restrictions align with ITA’s Terms and Conditions on posting and antitrust laws.
Reporting & Investigation
- Members can report suspected violations via email to the ITA President.
- ITA investigates reports impartially and confidentially.
- Retaliation against anyone making a report in good faith is prohibited.
Enforcement & Sanctions
Violations may results in:
- Private or public warning,
- Temporary or permanent suspension from ITA events or communications,
- Probation under governance oversight, or
- Revocation of membership privileges.
- Sanctions will follow escalating steps unless infractions are severe (e.g., legal violations).
Review & Updates
- All members must review this Code of Conduct annually as part of the Dues Renewal process.
- The Code will be reviewed and updated every two to three years to remain current.
Amendment & Version Control
- Revisions require approval by the ITA Board.
- Each version will be dated and archived for reference.
